It's been a while since I've used my precious black hearse(bass guitar) with band accompaniment because of everybody's excuse, tight schedules. I had moments with it to get my fingers in check i.e. finger style, playing along with a track and what-not. We had a scheduled practice last week and to find out that it has back-bowed. Damn! It ruined my night and my focus on the practice. To make matters worse, I didn't get to use it. Wasted time tuning it and wasted effort because it is heavy man. To save the day, the new drummer(rayman) offered their bass guitar. Though it wasn't a show, the practice must go on. Incidentally, it was rayman's first jam with us to get a taste of what we are about. Rayman is currently a member of another band but that's another story to tell. I am not sure what happened to it, Sherwin(yeah2) told me it's because of the climate or humidity. It may have an effect since it was backed by Randel. There are two things what guitar scientist think that caused the neck to bend. First, the tension of the strings pulling the neck upward. And lastly, the truss rod pulling the neck backward. So what I did, I take it out of it's coffin and placed it in a guitar stand. I remember, with my old bass it did return to a straight position after few days. But this time, VOILA! "vwalang nangyari". I know something has to be configured this time. Probably the truss rod(metal rod inside the neck of the bass) . Though there are several articles in the web that teaches truss rod adjustments, I am bit anxious doing it. It's like "I don't truss myself" adjusting it. Wrong move may cause the neck to snap which may lead to a broken neck. That will hurt. The straightness of the neck is called relief, so it is a relief on my part that our practice was cancelled. As of presstime, I am still looking for a technician....... this time it's not hell yeah, it's HELP YEAH!!!!!
